Listening is behind everything we do at Ken Garff. And when we say “We Here You,” we’re not just talking to the customers that come into our dealerships, we’re talking to our entire community. Giving back has been an integral part of this company, which is why we created the We’re Here for You program.
In the spring of 2020, we realized that there was a huge opportunity for us to do even more. Many local businesses, families, and other organizations needed support to get through those uncertain times. Our dealerships and our corporate office got to work, purchasing items from those businesses and donating them to families, teachers, first responders, and more. But this was just the beginning of the We’re Here for You program. Since then, we’ve kept the momentum going, working on multiple projects at a time, whether it’s revitalizing a community center, providing meals and household items for local families in need, buying supplies for teachers, and much more.
We’ve been busy helping people and organizations across the country. Here are a few of our recent projects.
Our Stew Hansen Auto Group employees spent the morning scooping, filling, bagging and boxing 20,000 meals with Meals of the Heartland. These meals will be shipped over to the Ukraine to feed orphans. All of our employees were grateful for the opportunity to help!
Honda of the Desert and Toyota of the Desert came together with the Loma Linda Children’s Center, to celebrate Easter with our local community! Attendees were invited to this Easter Egg Hunt that included over 90 Easter baskets, carnival, games, bouncy houses, raffle prizes, food, and fun! Our employees had so much fun assembling the baskets, planning, and hosting this event.
We’re grateful to give back to our local community and we want you to know that We’re Here For You!
Back to school is an exciting time to start fresh and prepare for a new chapter of growth and learning. Many students and families cannot feel the same anticipation of excitement because of financial burdens that limit a student’s possibilities. The employees of Big Star Texas recognized this need in their community and worked with The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a local women’s shelter, to help women and children begin the school year. The two dealerships, Big Star Ford and Big Star Honda teamed up with a local restaurant to provide a catered meal for 110 individuals at the women’s shelter. Additionally, employees donated their time and efforts to help landscape a play area for children living at the shelter. Employees donated school supplies, clothing, and other food items that will directly benefit the women and children at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters. The employees of Big Star Texas became big stars to each person they worked with this Thursday as they helped to better the lives of a vulnerable population. The food, clothing, supplies, and play area are all appreciated, but most importantly, we are proud to work within our individual communities to recognize the needs of one another and take the necessary time and effort to work towards an impactful project. The women and children at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters are moved by each employee’s dedication and are thrilled to start the new school year with some new essential items.
For Thanksgiving, our Big Star Buick GMC family came together to give back! We were able to give 250 turkeys to families in need. We want our community to know that, We’re Here For You!
We partnered with St. Joseph the Worker to donate hygiene kits! St. Joseph The Worker’s mission is to connect the Valley’s disadvantaged, homeless, and transitioning individuals to quality jobs by providing support, resources, and tools necessary for becoming employable. We want our communities to know that We’re Here For You!
This quarter Southfield & Telegraph have partnered together to stuff stockings for the Downriver Foster Closet. Next week we will be teaming up with office staff from both stores to get 152 stockings stuffed for children who are in foster care. We are truly excited to be a small part of children having an amazing Christmas.
Honda of the Desert and Toyota of the Desert employees put together 550 hygiene kits for the local rescue mission. Employees took the entire week to assemble the kits at both dealerships. Employees came in waves through various shifts throughout the week to complete all 550 kits. Then, once complete, they were able to deliver them to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission
Honda of the Desert and Toyota of the Desert came together to deliver Christmas to families and senior citizens in need! We’d like to give an extra thank you to Lupe Carroll, Vanessa Silva, and Mike Marcelo. They lead the teams in coordinating volunteers, shopping for families, wrapping gifts, and coordinating these special deliveries. Another big thank you to every member of our dealership’s families that helped make this possible.
