Dewey Dealerships Deliver School Supplies to Students at Des Moines-Area Schools

DES MOINES, IA (August 17, 2026) – More than 350 students at Phillips Elementary School and Ruby Van Meter School will receive backpacks filled with school supplies from employees from Dewey Auto Group. The backpacks, which will help students start the new school year prepared and ready to learn, will be distributed during each school’s “Meet the Teacher” event on August 20.

The donation comes at a time when back-to-school costs continue to rise. According to a recent analysis by The Century Foundation and Groundwork Collaborative, the cost of school supplies has increased by nearly 8% this year, with the average parent spending approximately $175 on a list of common school supply items.

These donations are part of the dealership group’s “We’re ‘Hear’ for You” program, an employee-run, philanthropic initiative where employees engage in meaningful, hands-on service to help the local communities and causes they care about most. “We’re ‘Hear’ for You” is a play on the dealership group’s well-known tagline “We Hear You.”
