The Brand-New Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff Building at the University of Utah
The David Eccles School of Business held a dedication for the brand-new Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff Building on the University of Utah campus on October 5, 2018. This new building’s construction was made possible by the generosity of more than 350 donors including a $12 million donation from members of the Garff family as a surprise for their parents, Robert and Katharine.
The Garff family has a long history of supporting education in the community and at the University of Utah, starting with Ken Garff himself as a member of the David Eccles School of Business’s first advisory board. The new building houses the school’s MBA, Professional MBA, Executive MBA, and MBA Online programs as well as an Executive Education Center, the Gregory J. Goff Strategic Leadership Center, and more.
At the dedication, both Robert H. and Katharine B. Garff spoke at the dedication, talking about the importance of education and how the new building will serve as a learning space that spurs creativity and innovation.
Katharine B. Garff said, “Our entire philanthropic efforts today center around education. For our educational programs, our tagline is ‘We want to change the world the best way we know how, through educating one child at a time.’ This building will represent for us the keystone for our love for education. As my husband says often, education is the great differentiator.”
